We can not help calling attention *
to the statements of the three banks
published in this issue. Look at
what that National Bank at Prosper- j
ity is doing, the Peoples National.
Remember that its capital stock is.
only $25,000 and its surplus and un-!
divided profits nearly twice as much' i

and the statement this time is big- <
ger in those things which make, money j
for the bank than it was at the last j
report in March. And the same is j
true of the Bank of Pomaria. And j
the Commercial statement is a stun- j
ner too. And not one of these has i
borrowed any money. We are al-!(
ways glad to see the banks prospering g
and making money and being in posi- j
tibn to help all worthy causes' and , (
deserving persons who are trying to
help themselves. President Wheeler j
and Cashiers McFall and Aull are onj

of Aiken, where he was transferred
some time ago. He was one of
the very best and most popular .
men ever coming to this city as a rep- ' "

his universal popularity is "an out- cl
ward and visible" sign of his "in- lo
ward and genial" personality is evi-i

cently elected on the Aiken alder-j
manic board and has lately been
serving as mayor pro tem. and is also
being- urged by his many friends
to become a candidate for the house'
of representatives. If he should run J
we hope he will be elected bv an j
