We did not get our Prosperity newsletter until about 2 o'clock from the postoffice and with the crowded con-! dition of the paper it is impossible 1 to handle it in this issue. We regret it but to make our mails with the i large edition we are now printing we have to go to press about 3 o'clock, i There are a great many things that j we do not understand and therefore ; it is not very remarkable that we do, know why there should be a constant [ cry about the scarcity of paper and ; concessional investigations and at the the same time such a profligate waste of paper patent on every side. - J, n aL il. -i x-ll.: , Jkven me papers wiat are uiiK.iiig su much about the scarcity and the pos- j sibility of having to suspend publica tion on that account waste paper j ( with every issue almost. Ar.d then ; the government wastes a lot of paper; i every day. r |' It is-with paper like it is with al-j, most everything else, a profligate a waste on every hand. j A DISTINGUISHED VISITOR. | Newberry is the home of judges "! j and so far as we can recall has the honor of holding membership on the supreme bench 'of South Carolina; longer than any other county in the' State, and certainly holding the posi-1 tion of chief justice. Pope, and we f were very glad to see him and to see him looking so well and so young. He comes of a distinguished family and J is himself a very learned judge and' writer on jurisprudence and has been on the supreme bench in South Caro- j lina for 30 years. His other two brothers were on the circuit bench, j Judge Ernest Gary dying only a few years ago and Judge Frank B. Gary is', now one of the best judges on the . circuit, and by the way is Molding; court in Newberry this week. Mr. J. W. Smith returned last , weekend from a trip of two weeks,! to Detroit, Cincinnatti and other im- j portant points * on the map, after transacting extensive automobile;' business. Bill Brings Big Business, j Being a Busy-Boomer. {. t * Mr. and Mrs. Robert Leavell and her son, Edward Parrish, returned last week from a visit to Mr. and Mrs. ' G. G. Waters at Johnston. Pleasant section of the county on Thursday and Glymph was arrested and released on bond to appear at court in July. Glymph and his wife both deny any knowledge of how the still got in their house. These same officers also found a nice copper still of about 25 gallon capacity on Kitchen Creek in Maybinton Saturday morning. It had the appearance of being operated within the last week or 10 days, mere was also a small quanity of mash at this still and both the still and mash were destroyed. No one could be connected with this still as it seemed the owners had abandoned it. The officers also found a still made of tin on the same creek and some mash at it. No one was at this one either but an arrest probably will be made shortly in connection with this one. Mr. Alvin M. Wright and family of Anderson are spending the week end with relatives in .Newberry. Dr. Thomas H. Pope has changed his office from over the Commercial bank to over the J. H. Summer company's store.
