That thing broke loose in Georgia
/Bout which Sherman did relate
Hr.s waded the Savannah
And kivered up this State.
The things folks u^e for rations

And, scarcely, by the rich.

In winter we'll be froze.

A Hour barrel shirt,
Guano sacks for breeches,
And feet right on the dirt.

And coal at Ten a ton
And that ton 'bout a shirt-tail full
We can't see where's the fun.

The biscuit stuff, we used to get
At 50 cents a sack
Has riz, 'till now we have to pay
'Bout 50 cents a snack.
With fat-back up round 30 cents
Sow-bellies just as high
It hurts my feelings, just to stand
And hear store-keepers lie.
Them three car-loads of sugar
I What came two weeks ago,
Has hid out in the Dusnes
Just whar, us folks don't know.
We'll have to cut out under clothes
And trust to outside rags
To hide our skins from skeeters
And bust head, no sense wags.
Them swell-paunch, measly grafters
Had better watch their dope
Or soon they'll stand on nothing
A swinging to a rope.
Though, some of them, on Sundays
a To preachers statements nod
P* High up in amen corners
And think they're fooling God.
But, look cut, Mr. Skinner

' "Balance of trade'' is an expression
used by political economists to indicate
the difference between the value
<of the exports and imports of a country.
This theory of the balance of
trade grew out of the mercantile
theory, which considers the possession
of gold to be the chief object of
trade. Hence there rose the belief
that a nation increases in wealth to
the extent that the money value ot its
exports exceed that of its imports.
