The Gray and the Blue.
There are very few left of those who
fought,
The fight of the Blue and the Gray
Their foot-steps are slow and their
eyes are dim,
One by one, they are passing away.
They think of the time when they
strove for the right;
To the cause that they loved, they
were ever true.
Their flags are unfurled on memorial
day,
And they talk of the Gray and
Blue.
They remember with, pride, how they
battled with Lee,
Their chieftain, so noble and true,
And 'till, Oh how sadly, he passed
through the line
When the Gray had to yield to the
Blue.
They are proud of their crutches and
Kzmyiy oiccvco
And well they remember the days.
The fill in the trenches mid wounded
and dead,
Brave men, both Blue and the
Gray.
The cross that they prize more thar
silver or gold,
Can never be taken away,
Conferred upon them by some fail
Southern criVl
Not worn by the Blue, but the
Gray. *

They'll answer the call and eagei
each one to obey
In bright robes of glory each soldier
is clad
All sing the same song, Blue and
Gray.

"Why don't you teach that dog to
do some tricks?"
"I have tried," replied the man who
lacks energy. "The dog won't learn."
"Not enough intelligence?"
"Too much. I can see by the expression
of his face that dog doesn't
see any more sense in the tricks than
I do."

that is an heirloom in the royal
family of Denmark. It is of gold,
with a design in blue enamel, and
studded with precious stones.
