"The Eyes of the World," which has its local showing at the open, house Thursday and Friday, is one of the truly great film achievements of the times, and it met with a most enthusiastic reception from a large and delighted audience. "The Eyes of the Woild" is in nine sections, consuming about two hours in its showing. It evidently cost a large fortune, and there is reason to believe the claim that it was in process of making for nearly eight months. j *-> t-cTi' 1 ?> +crc* rmhlir* wn<; await- ' J. licit a ? ing the Clune production was made certain by the fact that Harold Bell j Wright's celebrated story of modern life in California has had a sale of over 2,000,000 copies. As a picture it is replete with the stuff of which thrilling motion pictures are composed. Among its well remembered incidents are the escape of the con- j viet and his wanderings in the San Bernardino mountains, the kidnapping of Sybil Andres, the flight of the +V. rv Viillo on.-J CPJJTY?V> <vf giLi illlU bilV llitld unu wtv | the forest rangers for her, the tragic death of Taine at the banquet table : and the fight of the lovers on the j high mountain cliffs, which results! in the death of one of the air. The "big scene" in the Clune pro- j duction is this combat of the lovers. | The scene was f. Imed on one of the | loftiest cliffs in all California and is j so realistic that you hold your breath, i All in all, it is a most extraordinary j picture and worth both your time and | money to see it. Puck and Judge and The Bathing j Girls. Once in a blue moon, or in a decade or two to be more exact, an entertainment is offered to the public | which the critics, press and every- j body in general is of one opinion? j excruciatingly funny. And* when this opinion is endorsed by enthusiastic audiences over all of the country, it is quite evident that the piece must be a success.
