TO COURT AGAIIS
Rhode Island to Bring Suit on Fed
eral Amendment.
Washington, Jan. 19.?The Su
preme Court today decided to pass or
the validity of both the federal prov
hibition amendment, which becamc
operative la.st Saturday and the aci
of congress prescribing the mannei
of its enforcement.
The court's decision will be rendered
on proceedings which are to be
^ instituted by the State of Rhode
Island, which was given permission today
to bring an original suit. Solicitor
General King for the governmenl
announced that he immediately
would prepare and file a motion asking
for dismissal of the Rhode Islanc
case on the ground that the coun
|| lacked jurisdiction.

seized by revenue agents on board tht
Spanish steamer Cabo Menori at Eric
Basin, Brooklyn, today, on the supposition
