Mrs. J. H. Riser received a lettei on Wednesday from her daughter Mrs. C. White Fant, who is at the Roosevelt hospital in New York. Mrs. j Fant's many friends will be glad to ; learn that she is doing well and im, proving after her serious operation. ; Policeman J. B. Harman is walkI ing about with one side of his face bandaged. He didn't get it in a "resisting an officer" case, but it happened while he was taking off an i automobile radiator cap. The hot water flew up and scalded him pretty badlv. Mrs. W. H. Zeigler left on Moni day for Sumter to undergo an operation at the hospital there. She is in good hands, two of her sisters live ; in that city, one of them a trained 'nurse. Mrs. Zeigler's many friends will hope that she will be restored to health.
