Interstate Cotton Seed Crushers association
in New Orleans May 19-21.
They will leave Columbia on the 19tb
in a special train along with other
delegates for the same convention.

They decided to haVe another reunion
a year hence and Captain Langford
extended an invitation to theai
to join him a year hence at anothei
dinner and endeavor to have all the
members of the company present as
his guests, and that he would come
from his far away Texas home to be
with them.
It was a very pleasant occasion.
Negro Shoots Wife and Negro Map,
Jim Green, colored, living on -Mr
Will Anderson's plantation about five
miles from Prosperity in the St. Luke
community shot his wife, Bertha
Green, and also shot Jake Penny, another
colored man, at his (Green's)
home ?unday morning. Immediately
after the shooting Penny came ti
Prosperity and had his wounds dressed
by Dr. Simpson and Green brought
his wife to Prospeity where Dr. Bed enbaugh
dressed her wounds. Penny
is shot in the back while the Green
woman is shot in the side.
As soon as the doctor finished dressing
Green's wife's wounds Green
started back home with her in a
buggy where he was overtaken by
Sheriff Blease, arrested, and brought
to jail, awaiting the results of the
wounaea peupie.
Jake Penny liv^s on 'Mr. Ed Merchant's
plantation close to that o!
Mr. Anderson and both negroes,
Green and Penny, had been working
lately at the saw mill of Messrs. Anderson
and Merchant. Green is about
31 years and Penny about 30, both are
married and have children.
