The Newberry boys who have been over seas are coming home. We noticed that in one of the counties the clerk of court had offered to open <x uuui\ aim ic^wiu iuc uiov, uui >?? the bovs who had been in the service so, that the record might be kept and thus made a permanent archive of the county, so that the historian of the county when he comes to writs of the part the sons of the county took in the world struggle he could go there and be assured that the record there writ was correct and official. We know something of the difficulty of securing a list and the record of the men from Newberry in Lhe war between the sections only 'HQ years after the close of the struggle, because there was no official record made. But that lis another story and just now we are only attempting fo give he names of the .Newoerry dovs wru ire returning. Of course the list we have is incomplete but we will v;e jlad to print the names if the information is given. We had the names )f the boys from the 61st Coast Artillery 'some time ago who came in. Those who lave received their honorable discharge and have come home so far as we have been able to ascertain are Jack Ghappell, Thomas P. Johnnie Fell ers and William Edgar Schroder were detained on account of not beins: able to be released from the hospital but it is expected that they will be in soon. , From the machine gun company Geo. Sinu * there may be other boys who c^/e como in that we have not goten the names. Johnnie Fellers has landed and 30 wired his parents last Thursday. Then there are some of the boys who will not return and there are sad hearts and the, trial is the greater just now to see the comrades coming home and to know and realize that there are familiar faces that we will see no more because they sleep beneath the poppies in the foreign land, tut it had to be so. It could not be expected that all of the 'boys would come back. War means death ani suffering and privation and trial. We must all rejoice with those who ar?. made happy by the return of thcii boys and those who had boys whc are not coming hojme have the sat isfaction of knowing that their boys died as men and heroes. *1 A r Ul ^irrar He looks: He's thinkin' o' the boys That ain't back home today!
