Bowers. t France, Nov. 14, 1918 11 Dear Pa:? u I am located in a little town, here in France and am feeling well. I am 13 a great deal heavier than when you * last saw me at Camp Wadsworth. r Of course by the time you get this letter you wfll know that the war is j ever. We are all clad it is done for ^ | we are all anxious to get back home 1 and get down, to work again. 1 We were at the Verdun front for a * few weeks and then moved to the ^ i Argone sector. We have been handling v shells and have seen no actual figli'r s ing though we did have shells and s bombs burst around us. r We are living in barracks with c stoves and good beds. We are getting a 'good meals and are quite comfortable so you need not worry about me. The government has supplied us * with leather jackets lined wJth felt; 8 which are much warmer than sweat- j r ers. We have good mittens. The mit- jf tens would cost probably four or five j * i dollars in: the U. S. and the jackets j * | probably $1-0. We expect hip boots r j in a day or so and thus you see we c I are well cared for. When you write me let me know ^ ; if you have sold the mule you -figured on selling. Write me and t^ll me the news. With love to you all, h. L. Bowers.
