Mrs.: Effie Estelle Boyd, wife of Mr.
Geo. W. Boyd, died at their home, 39
Montgomery street, Mollohon mill village,
late Wednesday afternoon after
a lingering illness of cancer of the.
, stomach. The body will be shipped
on the Cannon Ball Friday morning
fet to Greenwood for burial. She was
W about 35 years old. Besides her lius-1
bard she is survived 'by a little 6-year
old daughter, Revada, and by her pa.

lived with her, and also her sister,

The city was filled with people and
automobiles from the country SaturSpeine
that there seemed to ba
an unusually large nunvber of the
cars in town the reporter walked
around from The Herald and 'News
office via post office and on down by
the Crotwell hotel to the opera house
and back up (Main to the Newberry

hotel. In that litttle distance and
short time he counted one hundred
and eighteen cars. Of course there
were more on hand, at the parking
ground, garages and sscattered elsewhere
throughout the city.
. A certain man in this city says that
women are like apples. Some that

are not as good as they look.
Amanda Brown, colored, died at
her home on Mr. Welch 'Wilbur's

A cotton bloom was handed in by
Rev. Sam Nance. It came from his
field Tuesday. This was followed on
Wednesday by another bloom, handed
in by Mr. W. H. Eddy. It came from
the farm of O. L. Singleton at Utopia
on the Eddy route. .
Under the new sugar rules now in
effect dealers are not permitted to
sel! for household use in larger lots
than two pounds to a customer in the
city and five in the country.
The fuel problem increases with
the hot weather. Where has the coal
