The sophomore contest in declama tion will start the exercises of com mencement week Saturday night i 1 Holland Hall at 8:30 o'clock. Ei?" sophomores will compete for the t<#> tiful medal provided by the Excelsior and Phrenakosmian Literary societies. The services Sundty will be held as usual in the opera house. In the morning the baccalaureate sermon will be preached by the Rev. F. G. Gotwald, editor of the Lutheran Church .'Work and Observer, of York, Pa. The sen ior class will proceed from the cam pus to the opera house sunaay mux u ing in cap and gown, accompanied by the faculty. Sunday evening the services will be in charge of the college Y. M. . A. and the address will be made by the Rev. V. Y. Boozer of Leesville, S. C., of the class of 1891. Class day exercises will be held as usual Monday morning at 10:30 o'clock on the campus by the senior class. Interesting features will mark the program. Mr. O. B. Mayer, Jr., president of the class, will preside. The annual meeting of the board oi trustees will take place in Holland hall Monday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock It is expected that practically all oi the 22 trustees will attend. At the opera house Monday night six members of the junior class will contest for the Kinard medal in ora tory. ine comesi ucgms at o'clock. The medal is given by twc winners of this medal in former years the brothers, the Rev. M. M. Kinarc and the Rev. James D. Kinard. Tuesday morning at 10:30 o'cloci the alumni of the college meet. Th president, B. V. Chapman, Esqv is looking forward to a large and en thusiastic meeting. Prof. Monts o Cochran, Ga., of the class of 1893, wil * make the annual address. He is s fine speaker. ' Tuesday night the college and com munity will have the pleasure of hear ing (President John E. White of An derson college in the literary addres: at the opera house at 8:30 o'clock. The graduating and closing exercis es will be held on Wednesday morninf in the opera house at 10:30 o'clocli with the granting of diplomas and an nouncement of honors and degrees. Offerings will be taken at both ser . vices on Sunday as usual. This h necessary to defray the expenses o the work. Examinations close on Saturday o this week and a great many student! will leave at once- for home, in vie* of conditons created by the war. - Nine young men of the senior clas: are serving the colors and others ar< at home preparing t*- enlist. Crimm will be permanently located in Newberry hereafter, as he has de cided to make this city his home. Dr. Crimm wants to buy or rent a six room modern bungalow, -which he would like to possess by the 15th of September. He will be at his office for the next two weeks, going thence to fill one of his appointments, as h? will continue to leave his quarters here from time to time to make pro fessional visits to various jplaces on his list of appointments. Dr. Crimm did not have his home burned in the great Atlanta fire, but lost some of his other property in the city, without insurance.
