Well, Ed., we have been intending t; ?o as you suggest for some time, bu there have been so many things tha it seemed we should print that in or ier to have any editorial on that pas at all we just had to conserve all th room for the matter itself and leav nothing for white space. But no^ that the merchants are not advertis iag quite so briskly we will have little more room. That is a good article which w nrint today from the New York Ameri can. As the American says so hav we said. The allies are over hen that is Balfour and Joffre and th res^ to get money, munitions, foot ships and men, and if it takes any thing else, to fight the war, tkey ar after that also. All male citizens between the age f 21 and 31 years, inclusive, ha< better heed the notice to register 01 the 5th day of June. The inter est paid on the bond is 31-r per ceni semi-annually. We do not under3tan the bank to offer the money at so lo1 a rate of interest, but the offer place it in your power to purchase a bon and pay for it in inslallmests. 'in government desires all the people t purchase one or more of these bond: And until all the people are given chance to buy a bond the capitaliai are not to be sold any of them. It is important that all persons be tween the ages required submit them selves for registration cn Tuesday, June 5. It is important also that th3 white men who have negroes employ ed on their farms notify the negroe3 that they are also required to register and that if they do not hey lay them selves liable to indictment and a fine and imprisonment for one year when they will be registered. Starting among some uolluu bales on the platform of the Newber ry Cotton mills warehouse the flames soon spread to the bales inside the building, tj?ere being about 1,000 bales in the section involved. Mr. W. J. QwittAnberir. of the fire company, es timates that the loss Is about 200 "bales. The fire company, arriving promptly on the spot, had the hard est kind of work in getting the fire under control, as it was difficult to get in there, but after rigorous and laborious fighting th6y finally sub dued the flames which were covering the entire mass of cotton. xne me xs said to have originated from a match in the han<l of some one lighting a cigarette.
