Mr. Lawson Paysinger returned last Saturday from a visit to relatives in Augusta. Mrs. Frank Hammond of G-reenville was in Newberry visiting t'rienas jast weeK. Mrs. Paul E. Anderson returned last week from a visit to relatives m Greenwood. Irvin Smith of Newoerry was out of the volunteers enlisting for tht? navy last Saturday in Columbia. Mr. J. E. Sligh of Columbia spent from Wednesday to Thursday with his home folks in Newberry. Messrs. R. Y. Leavell and Harry O'Donnell spent Wednesday in ro lumbia visiting relatives. Mr. B. C. Goggans has returned from a short stay in Chester and Hock Hill. Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Wallace return ed Wednesday from Atlanta and oth er points. Mr. and Mrs] G. W. Yonce. Miss Woodie Bowman and the Messrs. Mobley motored to Columbia Wednes day. Miss Mamie Paysinger returned last week tc her home in Xewberry, her school at Branchville having closed for the season. Mr. and Mrs. X. P. Mcllwain are visiting Mr. and Mrs. J. Forest Lom inack in Newberry.?Hodges Cor. Greenwood Journal, 1st. Dr. J. W. Sharpe and Dr. W. C. Bristol, veterinary surgeons of Green ville, were in iXewberry last Friday and Saturday. Misses Mary Lou Bullock, Inez Wessinger, Kate Bullock, Mr. Au merle Clark and White Bullock mo tored to Greenwood last Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. E. H. Koon of Kib ler's bridge spent Tuesday and Wed nesday with Mrs. Koon's parents, Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Bowers, in Newbfer ry. Miss Suber. daughter of Mr. ana Mrs. Jno. C. Suber, was taken to the Columbia hospital Wednesday, accom panied by her physician. Dr. Jno. B. Setzler. Miss Grace Patrick of Hickory, N. f-., after visiting inN Charleston, S. C., is on a visit to Miss Lila Summer, her former classmate at Elizabetft co?7^ee. Miss Hallie Wright, after the clos ing of the Central school at Pomaria today, will spend the week-end wltn relatives in Newberry on her way home in Laurens county. Mr. J. iN. Martin, who has been in Virginia, spent several davq of thK week in the city, leaving Wednesday lor Kentucky. Miss Julia Setzler, teacher of O'Neall school the past session is spending her vacation with her par ents. Mr. and Mrs. P. 0. Setzler ai Pomaria. ' Mrs. Mary Hull of Newberry, wid ow of the late D. "Proctor of Newberry were among the thirty young men who at Green wooa Monday passed the examination fo^ positions in the Army Recruiting Corps as se^or-i lieutenants. Mayor Z. F. Wright is a vice-presi dent of the South Carolina Board ot Trade which was chartered in Co lumbia last Saturday. It is an organ ization which will be of great service during the war. Messrs. J. M. Caldwell and Claude Y. \fnrrifi motored to Columbia Wednes day morning in the latter's car. They returned to Newberry Wednesday evening, accompanied by Messrs. E. H. Aull and E. S. Blease, who had gone to that city by train. Dr. I. E; Crimm extended his visit here another week, the limit of which will be reached Saturday evening. Saturday afternoon will po'stively be your la6t opportunity to see Dr. Crimm on this trip to Newberry. It therefore behooves all who have busi ness with him to call at his office without further delay. He is there to accommodate the public of this city and surrounding territory.
