John Shannon of the county was one of the young boys who went on with the troops to Camp Styx Mon day. John, who is not yet 16, is tnt son of Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Shannon When it was discovered that the lad had departed with the soldier boy.* there was some fast moving done. Mr. Shannon's Maxwell, with Mrs, Shannon in it and Mr. Alan Reighiey at the wheel, was called on to do its best work. The train with the bo> on board had gone and was well on its way to. Columbia. The Maxwell left Newberry at 1:20 and arrived al the camp just after the regiment had reached there. Mr. Reighley say* his car was in high gear every sie; of the way and that the motor nevei once stopped from the time he lefl Newberry until he arrived at camp making about forty miles an hour They left at 3:30 on the return trip reaching home a little after seven Mrs. Shannon brought her boy witr her.
