Rallies to He Held iu This
County in March.

Clemson college, the United States
Bepartjnent of Agriculture and the!
State Department of Education, will;
hold educational and agricultural ral- '
lies at four schools in Newberry county.
F'ollowing the rally at Smyra, j
tkere will be one on March 2 at Jolly t
Street school, Prosperity, and onj
March 3 one will be held at Prosperity
school. Tie fourth Newberry county ;
rally will be held at Little Mountain i
on March .4 and after that the party ;

since the middle of Januray in
seven Piedmont counties. This is but J
one cf four parries that are working j

These four schools are cooperating j
with the farm demonstration work in j
Newberry coun;y, conducting school!
plots in an effort to teach ue new j
generation practical agriculture by 1
using growing crops instead of books ]
to give the children their lessons. It is j
tV first time a-i effort has ever been j
made to teach practical agriculture in j
South Carolina's public schools. The!
work is considered of far reaching!
importance and is being given perso- !
nal supervision by W. W. Long, State !
demonstration asent and sunerinten- i
dent of the extension division of Clem- !
son College. . (

Boys and girls and their parents I
are especially invited to attend these j
meetings, but every citizen of New-:
berry county will be warmly welcomed.!
It is hoped at these rallies to organize;
strong clubs among the boys and girls
and also to make these four schools j
four centers of cooperative community i
life. For the farmers who attend!
these rallies there will be practical!

ern Railroad (the Seaboard) between \
Florence and Poston was made late t
this evening when the line at the via- r
duct over the Atlantic Coast Line i
tracks at the transfer yards was com- 11
pleted and the two ends of rails were | i
tied together with steel bars and j i
spikes. Tomorrow the first freight i 1
train over the new line is scheduled j

of cars loaded with merchandise for <
people along the line. The majority ?
of the shipment goes to Pamlico City ]

It was an interesting spectacle to i
witness the large gangs of hands today
as they made a "dive" to get in |
the last half mile of Mr. Bonsai's new ; ^
