The "Deestrick Schule of 50 Years Ago," given by the School Improve- j ment association in the auditorium of the new school building Friday evening. December 26, was well received by the large crowd present. The Improvement association is 'to be leartily commended for the work it is doing. To it belongs the honor for Pomaria's showing in the State's contest for improvement during the past year. The men are not to be overlooked, for they voted yes to the issue that made our handsome brick building possible. The Greatest Columbia Newberry College club, organized last June, will hold its semi-annual meeting the night of Thursday, January 1">, in the parlors of the Columbia Y. M. C. A. The club is composed of former students of Newberry college living in Columbia and suburbs and there are at present enrolled on the lists over 100 persons. The members got together for the first meeting in June and the project of banding together Newberry college men in Columbia received an en thusiastic reception. A dinner was held the night of July 1 in the rathskeller of the Jefferson .'hotel. The membership of the body has been largely increased since the reception, for the influx of Newberry people to the capital city, remarked very much in the summer, has continued daring the fall and winter.
