1 OF FORMER CADETS
Plans For King's Mountain Alumni
Reunion, October 29, Are Made
Public.
Speaking of the King's Mountain reunion,
to be held in Columbia October
29, Gilbert M. Berry "of the local
committee on arrangements said yes
tieraay:
"As years roll by boyhood days
and memories become more precious.
It has been a long *.ime in years, but
in memory but yesterday since the
King's Mountain Military school was
one of the best in the State. The
young men who attended this excellent
school, at Yorkville, have made
their mark in this and other States,
but as the school wa* long since abandoned
no systematic effort was made
to keep in touch with the former stu
[dents. Now it is proposed to have
the first reunion here on Wednesday
of fair week. For this purpose it is
desired to secure the name and address
of everyone who attended the celebrated
King's Mountain Military school.
The desire is that the name and address
be sent, at once, to Gilbert M.
Rofri- Tiiin<-?cin C Rqv nr Prin?](> TP
rYoumans, at Columbia. The central
figure in the celebration will naturally
be Col. Asbury Coward, the soldier and
educator, who has the affection of all
who ever knew him.''
The formal call for the reunion is
embodied in this circular:
"To the Ex-Cadets of King's Mountain
Military School.

The local committee has prepared
a letter, which is in part as follows:
"A committee of arrangements, consisting
of G. M. Berry, D. C. Ray and
.Pringle Youmans, was appointed, being
instructed to send out notices of
the reunion to all cadets, and to arrange
a program for the occasion.
"The committee now begs to advise
you that there will be one set address,
after which a testimonial of our affectionate
gratitude and regard will he>
presented to Col. Coward, and then
such imDromDtu remarks as the occa
sion shall inspire. A collaton will be
provided at a cost of $2 a ticket.
"Our alma mater no longer lives;
she is no longer an active instrumentality
in the great work in which she
took so prominent a part. The mutations
of the times have dedicated her
i function to the Stat<\ but the inspiration
she imparted to foer sons shall
abide with them forever, and shall b?
i "
transmitted to their 'children's children.'
"Come to the reunion and let us all,
once more, teachers and cadets, put
another knot in the cords which unite
us together. Ib may be the last time
we shall all meet again.
"Send a list of all the living
cadets you can think of, as we want
to 'have all of the dear old boys
with us."
