AN ORDINANCE RELATING TO THE
EMPTYING OF WATER, WASTE,1
ETC., IN THE TOWN OF NEW
BERRY, S. C.
Whereas, the Board of Health of the
Town of Newberry, S. C., has passed a
resolution requesting that the Town
Council of the Town of Newberry, S.
C., pass the ordinance herinafter set
forth, the said Board of Health deem
ing the same necessary for the protec
tion of the health of the residents of
the town, therefore,
Be it ordained by the Mayor and
Aldermen of the Town of Newberry,
S. C., in Council assembled:
Sec. 1. That on after the 30th day of
September, A. D. 1911, it shall be un
lawful for any person, firm or corpora
tion, owner or occupant of any hduse,
dwelling or other building in the Town
of Newberry, S. C., in which there is
in use any urinal, toilet or water clos
et, to empty or discharge any water,
waste or deposit from any such, urinal,
toilet or water closet on any' street,
or on any lot or ground. I
Sec. 2. That any person violating
this ordinance shall, upon conviction,
be sentenced to pay a fine of not more
thanL fifty dollars or to imprisonment
in the town guardhouse, or at labor on^
the -public .works anid streets of the
Town' of Newberry for not more than
thirty days.

porate seal of the Trown of Newberry,
S. C., 'on the 25th day of July, A. D.

NOTICE FROM BOARD OF HEALTH.!
The attention of the residents of the
Town of Newberry is called to Section
94 of the Revised Ordinances of the
Town, which is as follows:
"See. 94. Owners and occupants of
each residence in the town shall pro
vide his or tbheir' premises with suit
able outbuildings, as privies, and keep
the same clean and in good conditiont,
removing the deposits at least on"e a
week. To this end 'they are required
to keep such places supplied with a
box or some vessel containing dry
earth, charcoal, lime or ashes, and
use the same in connection witha the
use of such plants. That all such
privies shall be erected at least ten
feet from any ditcha used as a drain-*
age, and at least fifteen feet from any
street That no slops, rubbish, or oth
er refuse or filthy water shall be plac
ed or thrown under such privies, and
the constructing or maintaining of a
privy vault or receptacle is hereby ~
prohibited. All privies now within the I
corporate limits of the town which do!
not conform with this rule shall forth- I
with be changed by the owner to con
form with said .rule. All public privies
connected with places of business!l

the provisions of this rule, shall, on r
conviction, be punished by a fine of not a
less than ($1) one dollar nor more1ii
than ($10) ten dollars or by imprison- t:

what expense the board may incur in1d
abating such nuisance."~
The Board of Health has determined
to carry out strictly the requirements -
of above section. At the expirationi of
ten days from this date any person
violating in any manner the above o
section will be reported to the chi.ef1 fi
of police for prosecution. The health ti
officer has been instructed to visit ti
every place in the town for the pur
pose of ascertaining pny violation of I
