S. H. AULL, EDITOR. Entered at the Postoffice at New -i-ry, S. C., as 2nd class matter. Tuesday, December 7, 1909. "PROBABLY TO NEWBERRY." Efforts are being successfully made ib4twqen Columbia and Charlest'on and between Laurens and Greenville, to build a highway from the moun -tains to the coast. The Greenville News in a column article on the subject says the road will run from Greenville to Laurens and from Laurens to Clinton, "and probably to Newberry.'' The movement for this highway started at Laurens when the Colum bia record scout cars passed through Newberry to Laurens. Newberry is on the direct line between Green ville and Cohnbia and that is the reason the News states that it will "probably" pass through New berry. There can be no %other reason, be cause the automobile owners and the officials of Newberry county are do ing absolutely nothing towards se curing this highway, and it would be but stern justice if the highway were built around Newberry. We recall that on a former occas ion Newberry was on the direct line of a great trunk railroad, but New berry did nothing and the road went out of its way so as to avoid coming through Newberry. History may repeat itself in this highway unless the people of New berry do something to secure it. We have tried to a-ouse the people who are most directly interested to do something, but they seem entirely indifferent and it .would not surprise us to see ths highway take another course. The State convention of the Daugh ters of the Confederacy held in New berry last week .was one of the mostJ delightful of the conventions of this organization. The woment know how to do things and they do them. They are doing a great deal more than the men to preserve a correct history of the great struggle. In looking at the roll of deleg;ates and the location of the Chapters we could not hellp wo-ndering why there -were no Cha.pters organized in the rural districts. The men and the wo men as well of the rural districts are * just as patriotic and did as much and suffered as much as their brothers and sisters in the towns and cities. We believe they are as much inter ested in the work and they should or ganize. A great work for the new administration to take up. The C., C. & 0. road has decided to come ito South Carolina under another name and will conform to -the laws of the State. HELPFUL HINTS ON4 HAIR HEALTH. Scalp and Hair Troubles Generally!
