Residence o~
tain from Chester. On March 4, 1874,
he 'had married Miss Lizzie Wise,
daughter of Major P. E. Wise, of
Prosperity, and, exercising sound bus
mness judgment, *he fourteen years
later moved to .the county of his
wife's nativity to engage in business.
Three years ago Mr. Lathan put up'
a new building for his growing- busi
ness-a modern double-story frame
building, 105 feet in the clear in
length, and 40 feet in width.
.Mr. Lathion is a good business man.
and he is public spirited. Successful
-in his own affairs. he has consistently
and enntinuouslv worked for the up
building of his community. He has
seen Little Mountain grow from a
vil2. .. one store-his own-wth
out raih- ad facilities, to a thriving
business centre on a line of railroad.
Mr. Lathan is a modest man. From
him one would never gather that he
-was the founder of the town in which
he lives, and had taken a large part
in its upbuilding, alt.hough one would
conclude, from the confidence of his
neighbors in him. that he might well
be.
Mit. Lathan conducts a general mer
chanudise bu;iness. in which he car
ries a largre and well-selected line of
eleih'in2 and dry goods, millinery.
'-hoe,.. 'nats. and, in fact. everythingr
in a well-selected stock of this kind.
