The label on your paper be side your name indicates the date to which you have paid. Please give this your attention at once. THE PRESS ASSOCIATION. President F. H. Aull, of the Press association, attended a conference in Greenville on Saturday evening with the local newspaper men and the rep resentatives of the board of trade to agree upon the time for holding the annual convention of the Press asso ciation. It was decided to have the associa tion meet on Tuesday, July 6th, and continue in session through Wednes day and Thrsday. The Greenville people are very much interested in making this one among the best conventions pf the association in its history, and the de tails of the varidus enterta5nments will b; given later. Greenville has just completed one of the handsomest modern hotels in the State, "Otteray,'' and arra.nge mrents will be made to have the as&so eiation meet in the. auditorium of this hotel and have the members at the same place. The hotel is not yet op-. en, but it is expected to have it open by the middle of May. President Aull expects to arrange at the close of the convention for a short trip of two or three days, some thing similar to the trip which was taken by the association last year. These arrangements have not been completed but ample announcements will be made as to the details of the proposed trip. PUTJJNG THE RECORD. We judge from this statement in the Item that the work is not confin ed to the city of Sumter but includ es the entire county. It seems also that the physicians of the county co operate with these two organizations and assist and encourage them in their work, and that the city council, the board of health, and the health iimers are very much interested in the work of the Civie league L-nd its work. We simply refer to this so that these organizations in Newberry may have opportunity to take uip the sug gestion for concert o., action, lspee ialli in some of their undertakinzs. Fhe work of the (ivie association and the Anti-Tuberculosis league and the hoard of health and t e health officer have a great many things in common and there should be the heartiest cooperation and combination of forces. M:. Hugh Wilson on the first of April celebrated his fiftieth anniver sary in connection with his editorship of the Abbeville Press and B.,nner, and it is probably the longest con tinuous service of any one man on any one newspaper in the State, un less it be Col. T. B. Crews, of the Laurensville Herald. Col. Crews and Mr. Wilson both worked in Abbeville in the fifties and for a short time Mr. Wilson worked in on:e of the newspaper offices in Newberry. We hope these veterans will attend the annual meeting of the South Car olina Press association and that they will continue their personal recollec tions of journalism in this State. We hope that Mr. Wilson will live to <elebrate many more anniversaries on the Press and Banner. Persons writing communications,' including resolutions of respect and news items, for The Herald and News will please accompany the same with their names. If they do not care toI have their names used they will be withheld from publication but we! cmust insist upon ihaving the authors of such items before they can beI printed. We are glad to have our friends send us news iteis but we cannot print them unless same are accom panied by the nomes of the writers. T.he Herald and News has appar ently been an the blacklist of' the Columbia State for some months, but when the Columbia State wanted a linotype operator there was r.o hesi tation in phoning to our office and employing a young man who had been with us for several years. Of course we are glad the young man is getting~ better pay than we could give him and we made no effort to persuade him to remain. The Herald and News has furnish ed several good men to Columbia print-shops and they are all doing well. We dope this one will be no~ exception and commend the State's good judgment in coming to The Herald and News for efficeient print ers. O'NEALL STREET CHURCH.
