* WHITE RIBBON ECHOES. *
Wanted?Boys.
Who wants (he boys? The Sunday
f schools want them. They can scarcely
thrive without boys.
The church needs (hem. It is made*
weak when the boys draw away J'ron;
the sacred service.
jA The public schools are after the
| jj boys, (o fit them for the stern duties
of honest citizenship and cannot fulfill
its mission without boys.
^ The Nation needs boys. Its very exist-once
is threatened when the boys
va| drawn awav for evil purposes. Tt
'iM must have boys?good boys, noble
boys, true boys, honest boys, brave
boys, strong boys, manly boys, clean
boys and pure.
I The saloon wants boys. All bovs,
any boys. It cannot exist without
B boys. It will die without boys to
I feast, its ravenous appetite, for it
I lives on the souls of boys. It is the
ft most persistent, relentless seeker
ft after boys which exists to day. Tt
P never ceases its deadly chase. It is
ft the most insidious and ruthless foe
I known to humanity, and the interV
ests of the boys constitute the object
L of its most bitter and malignant atft
tac>ks\
"The boys of today are the men
of tomorrow," and the drink cursed
boys of today are the drink wrecked
H^Vmon of tomorrow.
Tt must have boys. Boys it is bound
|H to have.
Boys it has planned to have. Whose
HH'boys? Yours.
|KH The point, is right here: Tf the sa^loon
lives, the boys must die. This is
an awful sacrifice of the home defenders,
for I lie express purpose of
perpetuating the blig'hiing, withering
saloon.
Tf the boys are to live, then the saloon
must die.
The death of (lie saloon is the safety
of the hoys. Of the 10.000.000
boys in the country, 10,500,000 are
ensnared. Shall these continue to be |
rcowded out. and the other 5,500,000 j
be. drawn into the awful vortex, to j
give place to 250,000 murder mills? j
Which shall il be, boys or saloons?
Homes or saloons? Sunday schools or
saloons? Public schools or saloons?!
Churches or saloons? Nation or saloon
?
The life of the saloon means the
death of all else. Boys, the saloons
would murder you. Strike the accursed
saloon, and strike it hard.
Law Prohibiting The Sale of Cigarettes
to Minors.
Sec. 111?!). I| shall not be lawful
for any person <ir persons, either by
himself or themselves, to sell, furnish,
give or provide any minor or minors,
under the age of eighteen years with
cigarettes, tobacco, or cigarette paper,
or any substitute therefor.
Any person or persons violating I lie
provisions of the preceding Section,
either in person, by agent, or in any
other way, shall be held and deemed
guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon
indictment and conviction therefor
shall be punished by a fine not exceeding
one hundred dollars, nor less
than twenty-five dollars, or by imprisonment
for :i term of not more
than one year, nor le-s than two
months, or hoili, in the discretion of
the court ; one-half of the fine ini|>oscd

the offense, and the other half to he
paid to the treasurer of the county
in winch such conviction shall he had.
