On Wednesday the Carolina Stock
Breeders Association was organized
at Newberry with a capital stock of

Rev. J. II. Harms, the new president

Newberry Tuesday from Pennsylvania
accompanied by his family. For
the present lie is stopping with his
family at the residence of Prof. W.
K. Sligh, his brother-in-law, but will
move into the president's house on
the campus just as soon as the house

On his arrival here Tuesday at
noon he was met by !hc faculty and
I lie entire student body. It was an
i ing scene and must have made
he new president feel good to see
i students in line to meet and welcome
him. In fact it was a matter

City Council Appoints Special Committee
to Secure Estimates.
At a meet in# of the city council on
Wednesday evoniing definite action
was taken looking to tlio beginning
ol work for street paving in Newberry.
Tt has been talked about for sometime
and it will be good news for our
people that the city council 1ms determined
to begin the work. If the
work can be commenced and is properly
done so that the citizens may
know just what this improvement
means there is no doubt there will be
a demand for more of it.

the reach of the citizens. It is said 1
by those who have opportunity to ob- I

cases in the city in nearly every case '
it is among those residents who use >
well water, and as citizens and tax I
payers they are entitled to the op- i
portnnity of securing the pure city '
water just. as much as the other cil- J
izetis of the city. j

lion of the sewage system it will be 1
necessary to remove the septic lank
further down the creek or to emptv I

ship, which was interesting throughout.

map and make the same missionary
talk al his meeting in Prosperitv
Sunday afternoon and all who can
