REV. CALLENDER WILL RESIGN. |
.?. i
Will Accept Work in Virginia Near I
Washington?Many Friends !
Here.
Last week The Herald and News
stated that the Rev. \\r. 10. Cullender,
rector of the Episcopal church at
Newberry, would tender his resigna- <
tion and accept work in Virginia very !
near Washington. The following <
pleasant notice concerning Mr. Callender
is taken from t'lie Laurens Advertiser,
and will receive the endorsement
of the many friends of Mr. Cal- ,
lender in Newberry. Mr. Callender |
has made many friends in this community
not only among those who are j
members of his congregation but our
people generally, and they will all
wish him well in his new work:
''Rev. W. E. Callender, rector of
the Church of the Epiphany in this 1
city and Episcopal church of Newberry
will at an early dale submit '
his resignation as pastor of these two :
charges, and on November the first
will become pastor of Falls church, in
the suburbs of Washington, D. C. Mr.
Callender left last Wednesday for
Falls church, where he preached last ^
Sunday: just when his resignation
will be submitted is not announced.
"Mr. Callender and his excellent
family have resided in Laurens for
the two years past, during which
time I hey have made numerous and
strong friends, and their removal will
be a matter of genuine regret.
"Mr. Callender is an unusually en-r
ergot ic pastor, thoroughly imbued
with the greatln-ss of bis calling and <
the sacredness of his work. His activities
both here and at Newberry
have resulted in inestimable good.
I he field to which he goes olTors
greater opportunity for the exercise '
of his energy and talen:.;. Mr. Callender
's friends here wish him well,
wherever lie may go.
"It is of interest to state that Virginia
is Mrs. Calender's native State <
and their leaving here is of the nature
of a home-going for her."

The stork visited the home of Mr.
and Mrs. fir. IT. Amick on Sept. 30th ?
