first aid yesterday afternoon in what
was almost a fatal runaway.
While A. U. Mills and his wife and
daughter of this city and David Oliver,

I surrey the team became frightened
| at an automobile and ran away. The
.? surrey was overturned and Mr. Oliver
and daughter and Miss Mills woro
caught underneath. Mr. and Mrs.
Mills were thrown clear of the langlo
and Mr. Mills seized Ihe reins. After
Ihe surrey had been dragged 100
yards with its pinioned captives,

Nicoll of New York whirled
up the road in an automobile. Almost
before (he machine was slopped
Mr. Parker leaped from Ihe tonneau
and seized Ihe horses bv tho

a standstill and Ihe three bruised occupants
of Ihe wrecked surrey were
liberated. All were put in Mr. Parker's
automobile and taken to I ho
