After her return she will open, on the first of September, a piano studio in Newberry. / LITTLE MOUNTAIN REUNION. > Accommodations Provided to Handle The Largo Crowds Which aro Expected Today. i The regular annual reunion of New1 berry college at Little Mountain will be bold today. Il is what I be name indicates and more. It is not only a reunion of ' the students and ex-students of tbe Newberry college, but it is n reunion of the people for all this section of tbe State. It is a time when they come ' together to renew old acquaintance ] j and to make new ones and to mingle i with one another. They gather not 1 only from Newberry county, but from J all of the adjacent territory, and the crowds are never less than 3,000 to < {>,000 people. j The (X. & L. railroad has al- | ways been very accommodating to the ] people of Newberry, and this year, ( though the railroad is unable to secure extra coaches, President Ohilds lias decided to place a special engine at Newberry, with about sc\nn coach- ] es, and will make as many trips as are necessary to take the people from Newberry to Little Mountain, and bring them back to their homes in the J afternoon. Davenport rented a lior.su nd buggy from Alr. (J. W. Jaeo bs. oil last Saturday morning, stating t?hat ho wanted to go to Clinton to see a young lady. Mr. Jacobs has not heard of the horse and buggy, or of the man, since. The man said he was going up to get a young lady to run away with him and marry him. He told Mr. Jacobs he had been working in the Newberry cotton mills Cor some time. Mr. Jacobs has offereA a reward ot' H15 for information as to the whereabouts of his horse and buggy. ( Chester, Aug. 3.?Miss Etta Melon, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. IT. , Melton, Sr., of the Lewisville neighjorhood was burned to death last Saturday at noon while preparing tho ( family dinner. Prompt medical treatment was secured, but. the fierce flame completed its fatal work in four hours. Miss Meilon was 10 years old, a most estimable young lady, and her tragic death manses much sorrow in her home community. Bananas are now opened by electricity. On last Tuesday afternoon an night the ladies of the Home Missioi ary Society of the Methodist churc gave a most enjoyable measurin party en the lawn of Mrs. J. V White. Each person on arriving t the scene of pleasure was immediate ly measured by one of the young h ides present and a toll of three ecu! for every foot tall and one cent fc each inch over was collected for tli benefit of the society.
