V. Morris'. An Interesting Rclic. Mr. ( . .1. Mc\\ hirler, of this city, has received from F. W. A thins, of Joncxhoro, Teun., a section sawed from a tree containing a Imllet. Mr. Atkins writes Mr. McWhirter that "this bullet was discharged from an army ti'uu in IfiCil, near Yicksburg. and killed three men." The wood has b''?n blackened where the bullet entered the tree, and it can be seen that it has been in the tree for a Ions* t ime. Pound Company in Good Shape. Mr. I'. II. McMasler, Stale insurance commissioner, was in Newberry yesterday and examined the affairs of the banners' Mutual Insurance association. of Newberry county, of which Mr. I? I". (Hunter is president and Mr. I,. I. Kjiting secretary and teeasur. er. He found the accounts correct, all losses paid, and a balance in the bank. I lie company has insurance in force to tlie amount of about $100,000, and the insurance is costing; the policy holders from about twenty to twenty-five cents per $ 100 per vear.
