trustees oi: the University of South
Carolina had practically an all day
session today, and on the tenth ballot
this afternoon elected Mr. IIenrv
N. Snyder, now president of WofTfortl
College, to the position of president
of the University. It. was a most interes
ling contest, conducted in good
feeling, but with (lie view of securing
the very best available man foe
the presidency of the Stale University.
To begin with no formal or avowed
candidate was at any time given serious
consideration, and (lie members
voted for men they thought qualified
and available for I ho position.
At the meeting today, so that the
matter could be given mature consideration,
if was moved that, the
board go into a meeting of the committee
of the whole and that, in such
commit lee the situation be fully discussed,
and that no recommendation
