BAJNK AT POMARIA.
Enterprise Now Assured?Death of
Mrs. Rebecca Cromer?Mad Dog
at Large.
I 'oinaria, May IS.?There were ret
resiling showers of rain in this community
yesterday afternoon and last
night. It will be very beneficial to
the gardens and small gram.
Dr. fi. A. Setzler and Mr. Ilaynj
I'oik left on last Wednesday for West
Spring, where they will spend a couple
weeks.
Mrs. Rebecca Cromer, of the New
Hope section, died last Wednesday,
and was buried in Hie f imilv grave
yard on Thursday. She had been in
feeble health for some time, and her
death was not unexpected. Her life
was a long and useful one, and she
will be missed in her community.
Mr. Albert Fcagle, of Norfolk, and
his sister, Miss Olive, visited relatives
in Pomaria last Tuesday.
A mad dog was reported as being
at large in this section last night. He
was traced from aibout a mile above
Mr. Caldwell Ruff's, on the Newberry

when last heard from, but had bitten
a good many dogs.

I CEMENT SIDEWALKS. <
Next Work Will Probably be on ^
Boundary Street West From
Overhead Bridge.
The -property holders on Nance
street running north into Ward 1 not (
i yet having agreed to Mayor Lang- 1
PonV's plan for cementing the side- '
walks, it is probable that when the 1
work on Main street i? completed, the
next sidewalk to be laid will be on 1
the south side of Boundary street, 1
running west from tiie overhead ?
bridge. The south sidewalk on Bonn- ^
dary street has already been eemeni> 1
ed from Caldwell street to the overhead
bridge, and Hie work which is N
now in contemplation will be an ex- '
tension irf the work already done on this
sidewalk. It is hoped to carry 1
the. cement beyond the property of v
Mr. C. 1j. Ilavird. Most of the pro- '
perty holders on this street have
agreed to the plan?in fact, nearly \
all of t'hem?and it hoped and expect- i
ed t'hat those who have not yet agreed t
"/ill do so inwncdii. ,ely so that the i
work may be pushed. The property 1
holders for a part of the way havj j
:>greed unanimously; so that an ex- \
ten-ion for some distance is already 1
nssnred.
The next work after the Boundary \
street extension will probably be on
Caldwell street in front of the Baptist
church and the residence of Mr.
<"ieo. \V. Summer.
The sidewalks are giving universal
satisfaction wherever they have been
laid, and the property holders aro
we'll pleased with the investment, their
property having been enhanced in "
value many times what the walks
have cost I hem.

the arrest was matte by Police- 1
man Adams.

Mimnaugh's Big Sale.
Both Mimnaugh, on the one hand, J
and his customers, on the other, being
so well pleased with his big sale of
last week, he has decided to continue
the sale during four days of this
week?Wednesday, Thursday, Friday
and Saturday, and in six columns on
the fifth page of this issue of The 1
Herald and News Mimnaugh tells of <
bargains which are even greater than
those he offered last week. During
the sale which he conducted last week |
his store was crowded with customers ,
every day, and he expects a crowd
this week from nine o'clock Wednesday
morning until Saturday night. IT?
is offering everything on both floors
of the immense store?and there is as
much on the second floor as on the
first, and there is as much on each
it can hold. As matter of fact, Mimnaugh
says that the stock must go,
and he knows of no better way !
move it "than the great bargains which
he is offering the people of Newberry
county, who have been his friends. '
