Dean's furniture store on M'onday uiu'iit, at alhout II o'clock. The damage by fire and water was fully covered by insurance. Meeting of the County Board of Equalization. No sadder death of a child has occurred in Newberry in recent years than that of little Jennings, lie had reached his sixth birth-day in January, and lie was a sturdy, briyhl, manly little fellow, the pride and the ' joy ol ji mother's heart. His disposition was briyhl and sunny. Those who know him and have seen him at play in the neighborhood will lony and tenderly remember little Jennings While with his golden curls. Itodelsperger, of Ward was received and accepted and an election ordered to he held on March ill to choose his successor,Council has been in a deadlock for some lime on the election of an assistant street overseer, and at the meeting on Wednesday night the action was resricmlcd whereby the office was created. Superintendent Homer W. Schunipert. of the water works and electric limit plant, asked council to sign notes to I lie aunount of $d.00() for the purpose of installing ne?w machinery. Mr. Sehumpert was requested to put himself in communication with different companies and secure prices and terms. A letter from Mr. D. E. McComb, i>f Washington, who some tvme ago I'ame to Newberry to inspect the septic tanks, stated that he must have additional surveys and recommended that A. I). 1 Slack, of Washington, be secured to make these surveys. Council will place itself in communication with XTr. I Slack in regard to the matter.
