APPEAL MJADE TO NOMINATE
HIM FOR PRESIDENT.
<
Movement of National Scopo in >Be- p
half of the Delaware Statesman 01
For the Presidency.
Scran ton. Pa., February 13.?A P
-movement of national scope 4o noini- S
nate .Indue George Gray for the pros- II
idenoy was launched here tonight l\
when the democratic county committee
unanimously passed an appeal to
the democrats >of the country favor- R
ing his nomination by the democrat- S
ic convention and called upon candi- S
dates for national delegates in this L
Jk congressional district to pledge their S
votes to him. The following resolution
was unanimously adopted:
"We favor the nomination for the \
presidency of tho United States of
the Hon. George Gray, of Delaware.
" Tu him'are (lie united elements of
high, unselfish, far-seeing statesman- ^
ship. If placed in nomination by the
democratic national convention his <"
election is certain. I'
" flic uprightness of !iis -private I'
life is an inspiration. That he is J
comparatively poor and that all his S
^ lif(> he has placed the duty of public S
service above private enrichment are S
guarantees that if elected he will be F
the servant of the whole people. I
"lie has reconciled capital and la- 0
bor in the bitterest industrial iwar of T
modern times. Noteworthy among lr
these reconciliations is that accom- T
p'lished by the ntahartcieE r ,Dy-C5I P
plished by the anthracite strike cor.i- P
mission, of which no was chairman. S
No peacemaker in the whole range of
of American history ranks with this P
m.iir in the service lie has rendered I
to hi> country. F
"Ho has risen to the heights of
true statesmanship1 in his pcrfor- R
ma nee of the duties of Attorney Gen- P
era I of the Stale of Delaware, as C
T nited Stales senator from that C
Slnle, :is head of the Paris ponce 1'
commission that formulated Hie T
treaty ending the Spanish-American I
war, as a member of the permanent
international peace commission, appointed
in accordance with 'Ihe treaty R
of The Hague, as member of the joint S
high commission ti\it decided the Rcrin?r
Sea controversy and as sola arbi- ^
trator in a dozen or more controversies
between capital and labor. P
"We recognize in him the genius P
of common sense and a profound sym. P
pa I by with humanity. ITc is a <10111- 1
crat who is a worthy successor of T
the groat Jefferson, and above all 1
else, he is an American of the 'best
and strongest type.
"To his initiative and force must P
be attributed the reform of the child
labor 'laws in Pennsylvania and in
large measure the success of the
child labor movement throughout the
country. Plis public and private roc- n
, ord is unblemished. Qualities of Mie
highest, and most, inspiring 'leadership T
are his. I
"We commend him to the Ameri- ?
can people as the ideal candidate in T
this national "emergency and call up- S
011 those who are candidates for ;lel- I
ogates to the national convention rl
from this district to declare themselves
in favor of his nomination."

I The most successful physicions are .
now treating pneumonia by the appli- t
cation of counter-irritants. They are r
learning to resist the temptation to '
doctor the cough, which, after all, is g
only nature's effort to relieve herself,
and are endeavoring to reach the seal r
of the congestion without the use of ,
1 internal remedies. \
Some are using preparations al>out
' as pleasant to the patient as an applical
tion of mud cr putty, hut the wisest use j;
a pleasant liquid counter-irritant
The ideal remedy is Noah's Liniment j
Its carefnlly compounded ingredients ,
possess wondei ful powers of penetration t
\ and iinmediately reduce the inflanuna- ^
tion and congestion. *
Neah's T,inime?'t is absolutely harm'
less, anil can be used freely without con!
sultatien with a physician. Apply the
liniiront freely over the point of pain or
congestion. Saturate a hot flannel ami
' keep it applied to that portion of the
body. The effect will be almost immediate,
and in many cases the threatened
pneumonia will be dispelled before a
physician can be secured.
Rest for rheumatism, fciatia, lame
I back, stiff joints and muscles, sore throat,
I colds, straius, sprains, cuts, bruises,
