and His Brother Slightly Hurt
by Pistol Bullets.

Anderson, Feb. 4.?Two brothers,
Messrs. M. F. Punlap nnd Kirkland
Du.ilap, were shot by a negro named
.lohn Freeman at lfonea Path on
Saturday night. The wound of the
former is only a tlesh wound, the
bullet pie ring his left forearm. The
wound of the second is serious, Ihe
build having hit a couple of inches
below bis heart and ranged upwards.

talking in walked .John Freeman.
Freeman bad worked on the section

Freeman became boisterous, so it
is said. lr'e boasted loudly of his
money, belongings, importance, etc.,
and finally drew his pistol. Oambrell
and nunlap then ordered him out of
the house.
After leaving the tool house, "Freeman.
so it claimed, fired his pistol
through ihe crack of the door. Dunlap
was standing near Ihe door and
the bullet entered his left forearm.
The negro the ran.
Dunlap went home for treatment.

citizens, including' Constable llaynes,
Policeman White,. Kirklaml Dutilap,
brother to the woiuidcd man, and
several other persons. They followed
the negro and surrounded a negro
hut on Mr. Marshall Shirley's place,
near Uonca Path. That was some
time alter dark.
A negro jumped out of the door of

break I'nr the woods. He was followed

turned out to be the wrong one.
In a few minutes anoi-hcr negro
left the house, jumping out of a window.
