Boys Stay on the Farm. f Col. E. H. Au-ll having the farming interest at heart concluded to have a picture made of a field of corn that ] I have and has asked me to write a short article for his paper in corniee tion with it, so that perhaps some ,1 young man might be encouraged to stay on the farm and bc happy. ,Seven teen years ago I bought my 1 first tract of land one a half miles west of Newberry. for which I paid twelve dollars per. acre. At that time cotton was sellin-.: fromn twelve to six-1 teen dollars per bale and you can imagine what a hard time I had to< pay for my place. Having such a struggle to meet my obligations in paying for my land I contented myself for quite a while with what I had, being afraid to go in debt again. I was finally induced by some* friends to buy my second place which cost nineteen dollars per acre (see how land advanced). I borrowed th money--fifteen hun dred dollars- and in four years I paid it with ease. This is a motion in a contest on the r egaaity of the dispensary eleetion eld several weeks ago in that' county which the dispensary was-voted I ut. The .state board of canvassers ,fterwards declared the election ille 'al and this is an appeal from the de ision 'by the election board. . 1 The above is from The State of ( ;iunday. 'Ohief Justice Pope has de lined to hear the case and will a3- ] emble the entire court for that pur ose. The .order which he will issue vill be returned o'n the 28th of this1 onth, at wieh time argument will I e heard before the full court. On be 27th and 28th the court will assem le en banc which includes not only he justices of the supreme court but 1 the circuit judges. The purpose f this meeting is to hear the case if the State against Pope, which is murder case, and the case ex parte ~hrlich which relates to certain stol-1 n bonds of the state. It is desired that it shall be dis netly understood that all of the cit ens are invited to this meeting.
