^ TO PREVENT DISEASE.
A Don't Forgot the Meoting and Address
of Dr. 0. T. Wyche on
This Subject.
Attention is called again to the
meeting of the County Medical Society
at Now berry on Friday, August
'J. These meetings are held in I
Newberry at 9 o'clock in the morning.!
This meeting, as already stated, will
be a public meeting and will be held
in tin looms of the Chamber of Commerce.
Dr. Wyche, of Prosperity, will read j
a paper on the prevention of dis-,
ease and all the ladies, especially the'
house keepers, are invited to attend !
and hear what Dr. Wyche has to say
on this subject. It is a very importtaut
subject and one that concerns
all of us. Dr. Wyche is competent to
1 give some good advice along this line,
especially since he has given the subject
very particular study during the
last several years.
Remember that the meeting will be i
held in the rooms of the Chamber of I
Commerce on Friday morning at 9 i
o'clock and that it is a public meet-!
ing and that the ladies are especially |
invited to be present.
Dr. Wyche will treat particularly
of the means to prevent typhoid fev
er, tuberculosis and malaria fever.
KING'S CREEK GRAVEYARD.
Importance of Giving it Attention?
Those Interested Requested to
Meet.
The graveyard at King's Creek
needs attention badly and at once.
All persons having loved ones buried
there are insisted upon to be present
or have a representative on hand cariy
Tuesday morning, August 13th.
There are so few of us why try to
keep the yard clean that it has become
quite a task and unless there is more
help we will bo forced to attend our
own graves and leave the others to
the weeds and shrubbery.
Every grave ought to be designated
in some durable way?with at
least, the date of birth, death, the
son or daughter and the husband or
wife as its inscription. This is important
historically and gcualogically
Two years ago I had occasion to look
up some records for the South Carolina
college and my last resort was
the monumental inscription in King's
Creek graveyard.

Death of Mr. W. B. Franklin.
Mr. \Y. B. Franklin died suddenly
at his home in No. 2 township yesterday
about 3 o'clock. Mr. Franklin
was about seventy years of age. lie
was a brave Confederate soldier, a
member of Company B, 1st South
Carolina regiment, McGowan's Brigade,
A. P. Hill's corps.
Mr. Franklin always attended the
state and general reunions of the
Confederate veterans and enjoyed
these annual gatherings very much.
He was the father of Policeman H.
IT. Franklin and W. B. Franklin, of
West End.
Tt is probable that burial will be
had at Hosemont today, where his
wife is buried.
One by one the gray line, that is
left, is being cut down, and soon all
of the Confederate veterans will have
answered their last roll call.
