County Treasurer Epps and County Auditor'Cromer had their annual ?ot'llenient yesterday morning, and notified 'Hie comptroller general that they were ready to be checked up by him. THE FARMERS' UNION. Interesting Meeting of the County Union?State President Goodwin Present. The meeting of the County Farmers' union, held at Si. Lukes on Saturday, was largely attended, and the meeting was interesting and instructive, and successful from evcrv point of view. President Brown presided. Mr. (). P. Goodwin, of Laurens, president of the Stiate Farmers' f.*uion, was present, and made an earnest address. The other speakers were Mr. W. C. Moore, of Greenville, state business agent of the organization; the Rev. .). A. Sligh, and Hon. Alan Johnstone, I he Rev. J. A. Sligh and Messrs. R. T. C. Hunter and .1. B. O'Ncall llolloway were elected delagales to the State Farmers' I'nion, which meets at Greenwood on duly *2(i. A picnic dinner was served on the ground, and the day pased of mo.-i pleasantly for these who attended. Both President W. C. Brown and Secretary .J. B. O'Xeall llolloway, of the County Farmers' I'nion, have done some hard work in the cause, and the county organization is one of the best in the state. Hail in Newberry. The.-e was some rain and hail in Xcwherry on Wednesday afternoon, and i? is reported from No. 7 that there was some wind and hail in that section. When Mr. James (Jitgga.n's resigned his position in the post office recently to go to Xew York to lake a business course. Mr. Malcolm Hunter was given the position made vacant by Mr. (loggans's resignation, thad of money order clerk. Mr. Robert Parks, who iias been employed in the Observer office, has been appointed genral delivery clerk, the position vacated by Mr. Hunter, ami will begin work in the post oilice on Sunday. At a meeting of the trustees of the Saluda school here yesterday Mr. Felleis, formerly of Newberry county, was elected principal, vice Mr. Carson, who resigned after his election rceemHy.? -Saluda cor. Columbia Slate. Mr. Hunter Injured. Mr. William H. Hunter fell from a step ladder in the Observer office on \\ ednesdUy morning, and 'was painfully injured, hurting his back, and probably fracturing one of the bones in hir wrist. He was getting along very well yesterday, and it was not thought '.lis injuries would keep him in bed for any great length' of time. Mr. Hunter had gone up on the step ladder fo roach a shafting in the Observer office, and the ladder slipped, causing him ?to fall.
