These are but a few samplIles of a protest that was prae ticlly unianlimlous. I have thle letters on file, anld have attached tile COPY of Onle from the dispenser at Sumter, together wvithi my rep)ly. At this timle thlere were in thme coun ty dispensaries and at hleadquarters1 $47,000 wvorth of these goods. 'With these facts I went before tihe board at a regular meeting in August, and asked that they discontinue ord erinmg these goods. Thley acquiesced. D)uring the session of the No+amber meeting of the board a list of tihe purchases proposed at that meettng was furnished me1 by the clerk of the oard. On December 12 I submitted to tl oard a statement showing the goo( eeded to supply the unfiled ordei f the county disepnsers, and ou hlowing the amount and kinds oods on hand. About-the first of January, the re, eseitative of the Southeastern C., ervice association came into my o ce and complained about the nun er of ears standing on the side traeb f the Atlantic Coast Line in this eit -aiting to be delivered to the stat ispensary. He stated that on ti av before when he made his comn lere were 36 cars on his tracks, mllo, f which were loaded with whiskey v nite from t he liquor dealers to t1i eadquarters here.
