they claim today that they feel confi
dlen( of' electing a governor
and a inajor'ity of the senate wvho will
do tIhe bidding of Mr. Tilnman. . On
the other hand there are only five
candtidates that over say a word
against the dispensary. Mr. Lyon a
candidate for attorney general who
has never lost an opportunity to
show it up. Mr. Ansel a candidate
for' governor' who four years ago stood
flat..footnd fr.h Sae dsesr
as the best. solution of the whiskey
uilestion and who has during this en
tire campaign advocated a. system of i
couhty dispensaries (which are just
as objectionable in a small way as the
state dispensary because the principle
in both is the same) but tells them
that if they wont have county dispen
saries they can have prohibition. Then
there is Mr. Brunson who is a theoret
ical prohibitionist. who has made tem
per4pee speeches but has had no part
in the work we have done under the
Brice Act. He claims to have sign
ed a petition in Sumter county to
vote upon the question, which makes
hini a local optionist as between pro
hibition and state dispeniiary, but he
has never had enough influence to
have in election ordered, this is large
lv due to the fact that in 1898 he was
disloyal to the prohibitionist who lie
inisulted by characterizeing the action
of the state committee as a suterfuge.
