A Keen Retort.
General Jnbal Early was as keen
sometimes with his tongue as he was

In the summer of 1877 General Ju
bal A. Early was a guest at the Ar- I
lington hotel, Hot Springs, Arkansas.
Among the other notables stopping

been recently appointed by President
