TO NULLIFY ELECTION.
A Plan Said to Have Been Concocted
Beforehand in Columbia.
Columbia. September 19.-It was
stated here today that if the el-ction
in Mar:on t,;iav gea against the dis
pensarv there will be a suit to keep
the dispensaries open. In additior to
the reasons assigned in the prcviou,
cases, it is understood that a point
will be made that the supervisors of
registration kept the books open less
than thirty days before the election
It would be strange indeed if two or
three election officers could, whether
wilfully or not, invalidate an election.
It would be about as bad as to ;up
pose that a board of managers at
some out of the way election precinct
wilfully allowed a number of dis
qualified voters to participate in th:
election that it would invalidate an
entire election.
If the wilfull violation of the elec
tion law at some precinct could in
validate an entire section, it would
hardly be worth while to hold elec
tions; it would be such an easy mat
ter 'to get -such things done. If the
commissioners of registration viola
lated the law in issuing certificates of
regstraticn, then the illegal certifi
cates could be checked and that num
ber of ballots be cancelled, if contest
ed in the proper way, but it would
indeed be a peculiar situation if elec
tion officers could wilfully and sys
tematically invalidate an election by
their own acts, when sworn to exe
cute the laws and not to violate them.
It is, of course, not knowy what there
is in the report.
TO THE FARMERS
Merchants and Bankers of Newberry
County.
There is no modern business with
which I am acquainted that. can not
use publicity to great advantage, and
I look upon the Farming business as
one that may be intensely benefited
by intelligent and logical discussion
in the newspapers of this one im
portant fact, viz; That in order to be
of the greatest advantage to the pub
lic generally, the Merchants., Planters.
and Banker must necessarily form a
monopoly to control the production
and the marketing of the world's
greatest crop-COTTON. The mem
bers of the Cotton Growers Associa
tion have pledged themselves not -to
sell, and to use their influence to keep
other Cotton off the market for less
than eleven cents. This action is a
noble one and will prove to the weak
how strong they' really can be. WVe
Are Confirmed Bulls.
Bu-c we do not hesitate one moment
in advising our thousands of clients
to sell Real Estate, Stocks and Bonds
when the prices are high, and buy
on all sharp declines. They, of course,
must be their own judges. Is not this
a good time to buy or sell, the whole
south is on a boom, if you think so.
we are the ones to look for. While
i-t is a fact that we propose to boon;
the en-:ire South and our home town
especially, for all it is worth, it wi!!
.equire your help. it will require lots
of trading. It takes actual sales to
boom anything. We offer an oppor
tunity for you to either buy or sell.

special circular consisting of the va
rious properties for sale. This circu
