admit. as stated above, that the dis
pensarv as at present manage(d is not
perfect. We want better liquor, we
want less pront. we want standard
brands and not so many new and
fancy brands to make money for other
people. We want whiskey in the dis
pensary so that people can call for
and get what they want at reason
able prices. \\-e want the law strict
y enforced. We want men in con
-rol of it who will do their duty with
:ut fear or favoritismT1. We want the
money paid to go into the liquor and
come back to :h people who buy it.
and not to those who sell it.
It would be useless for me to go in

matters are all too well known to be
mentioned. Those are questions for

and are going to contin1te to do so.

nothing sensational may be expected
Jut some striking truths will be made
to appear. Those '.ho are guilty, in
so far as the proof can be furnished
will be exposed. The legislature, then
will be in a positior to act upon facts
and not mere idle rumors. The peo
ple should await the report of this
committee before they condemn it,
and then await the action of the gen
eral assembly. If these are not sat
:sfactor- or do not meet with public
approval the people can then take
such action as they may deem best
and not be lead by falsehood or in
uendc s.
What about compulsory education
and the reformatory bill?
I am stilloopposed to compulsory
education and the Patterson socalled
reformatory bill, and will oppose both
if I live to be in the senate next year
because I believe that they are both a
menace to the public good.
What about taxation?
I think our appropriations wer<
very extravagant last year and th<
people unnecessarily burdened witi
an increase of taxation and creatior
of new offices, also buildings an<
'building improvements, and I fee
fully assured that I can prove thes
assertions and take care of mysel
on the stump before the people or
these important issues, or anywher
else thatc they may come up for dis
cussionl.
