and relatives here recently. This is
her first visit in 'ten years. A return
to one's childhood home after a long
absence recalls many pleasant memo
ries.
The paper that doesn't have dis
pensary or prohibition as a leader
now will not do for a whiskey house
to advertise in, for the ad. will not be
seen.
Much is being done and said as to
the dispensary just now, which has
stood the test in so many ways but
the Brice Bill passed by the last legis
lature is the first step to its dlownfall
and which no doubt wvas voted for by
some ot the strongest dispensary
Ipeople in the house. but right then
her did not think where it would
carry the dlispensary. Just let me
coule the elements together that are
h hin thesiiesary and( see if the
maji rity won't agree wvith me. There
are a few' disgruntled po,i!ticianfS. a
:ionst who has the finest whiske-"
made as a mornng refreshment. then
repeat the same at midday as an appe
tizer. ard at bed time double the
imount so as to spend the night in
?eace. quietude. and pleasant slum
>ers. after a hard day's struggle for
he gains of this world.
Say. ymu prohibitionists. get down
:o work and not use so much gas. As
i dispensaryite let me suggest to you to
abandon your fight as to whiskey
-ight on the spot and get in line to do
;omething. Call all the male mem
)ers of all the churches in South. Car
)lina. in convention and organize
yourselves. take an oath not to
yatronize the handler ,of whiskey in
mny shape or form and you will have
he whiskey problem solved. but you
Ovil never solve the same until you
iold the rules of your creed in hand
and not take a strong drink as so
nany of you do.

A Perfect Model
Biddlecome was holding his eldest
son in earnest converse, says the
Cleveland Plain Dealer.
"My boy," he said, "I am filled with
anxiety when I t'hink that you will
soon make choice of a wife."
" 'I have not done so yet, father," the
young man replied. "What sort of a
wife would you suggest?"
The older man looked around cau
iouslyV.
"My y.on."' he said, "if your father's
avice is worth anything to you. let
me urge yo to seek for a woman
who hasn't the independence, the posi
tiveness, the general characteristics of
your' mother." He was interrupted at
that moment by a light footfall and
relized that his beloved helpmeet had
etred.the room. "No, my son." he
cotinlued, 'do not hope t; find anw:h
er wvoman like your mother. Such
