E. H. AULL, EDITOR. BIENNIAL SESSIONS. Both houses of the general as sembly have passed the "biennial sessions bill" and the question will in all probability be submitted to the people this summer. We do not believe that biennial sessions will save any money, as we have heretofore stated, but the editor of this paper, along with the other representatives in the lower house from this county, voted for the pass age of the bill which submits the question direct to the people. - We are very glad to note that the citizens of Prosperity have about got. together on the question of building a new school house. Our correspondent says that the adop tion by the citizens' meeting of the committee recommendation that bonds be voted to the amount of $3,500 for this purpose will do a great deal towards harmonizing the school interests of the district. We hope that he is correct and that the citizens will vote the bonds. We would very much have liked to see a $5,ooo brick structure erected, but we confidently predict that if a modern frame structure is erected, and the citizens 6f Prosperity note the increased pride which will be taken in their school by all con cerned, that it will not be very long before they will get together and erect a $io,ooo building. Senator Tillman is again after Crum's political scalp and wants to know if he has been commis sioned under his fourth appoint ment and if so, by what authority of law. We only wish that he could get two scalps and that the other would be Mr. Roosevelt's. But we are very much afraid that a president who can make an appoint ment between 12 o'clock noon and ,12 o'clock noon of the same day can find another dodge, equally ab surd but equally satisfactory to a Republican senate, which seems to be afraid to confirm and equally afraid Not to confirm, but is willing to let Charleston be burdened with a negro collector. The people in this section are well pleased with the appointment of Mr. Henry Williams as superin tendent of the Savannah division of the Southern railway and that his jurisdiction vwill extend over the Columbia and Greenville branch. Mr. Williams was a former conduc tor on this branch, and is re membered with pleasure in New berry, where he was very popular with the traveling public. -The Anderson chamber of coin mnerce now has a plan to establish a college with a $25,0o0 plant and an endowment of $75,ooo- Ander son is wide awake and her citizens pull together and that is the only way to accomplish anything. "Why have I flung away ambi tion? Why have I rejected this priofered greatness and been deaf to the entreaties of those who talk only of 'getting together.' I want to know what they are getting to gether for, whether to defend rights or to enter upon acouirse of pillage" So exclaimed Win. J. Bryan in an address in New York city this week. Nobody else could have attempted to give. Mr. Bryan s reasons for re jecting it because nobody other tha-1 Mr. Bryan himself ever knew that he had rejected any proffered greatness. The citizens should take some definite action at their meeting this afternoon and bring the matter to a conclusion. Rev. P. H. E.
