If the new summer gowns have a
conspicuous note this year It Is In
their trimmings, which seem to stand
oat in bold relief. Much soutache in
all widths and heavy cotton braids
are used, in white and dyed to match
the fabric. In the skirt and coat suits
the outline of the coat is shown by
the line of braiding, and either braid
or buttons frequently trim the back.
Tassels are used wherever a place for

them can be found. The heavy and
the fine luces are fashionable in com
bination for trimming both gowns and
separate blouses. Very narrow satin
plaltings are much used for trimming
silk voile or net gowns. They are
often introduced in some brilliant
shade on a dress of neutral tint
'Plaltings of this style frequently de
fine a bib effect on the waist and
outline a tunic effect on the skirt
Buttons are used not only wherethey
are needed, but where they are not
needed, on the new gowns.
For the tailored suits there are the
fabric colored buttons and the braid
buttons. The white and colored cotton
crochet button is very popular, and
for thin waists there are the new pearl
bead buttons.
Collars are in many styles, and it is
not difficult to suit your collar to
your neck and make it becoming. A
she"_neck and fat face would require
a hiv^ad turnover collar. These ?;ome
In stiff linen or soft embroidered lawn

For the-glrl with a long neck there
are very high transparent collars of
-4ate or chiffon specially high at the
sides.. An effective way of introduc
ing a touch of bright color into a
white or dark gown is by meaus of
an Inch wide satin necktie with a satin
knot and a tassel of beads at the end.
Flat, narrow neckties in this style
are also made of beads with tassel
ends.

mer, and this Is all because classic,
simple forms of dress are in evidence
in many of the imported fashions.
?Nothing Is smarter than the Greek
band threaded in and out through the
hair. It is prettiest when made of
woven gauze ribbon showing a gold
and silver skein. Black velvet filets
are very striking with blond hair.
Children's frocks are charming this
summer, and the Illustrations show
two pretty models.
