the United States Geological Survey,
Department of the Interior,
many of these animals weie mired
in the soft clay of which the
Morrison formation largely consists,
and their bones, which are
in places abundant, are noW coW
lected and studied by geologists.
Some of these creatures! such
as one known as the Bron&psaurus,
were sixtv feet long. Many
of them bad remarkably ismall
heads, notably the Stegosjiurus,
I whose diminutive brain su'ooreatft
that it must have been very stupid.
This animal was unjoubt
ly very clumsy also, but its'huge
size and its protective armor aided
in its preservation.
