County Food Administrator
L. H. Trotti has not yet appointed
the local administrators in
various school districts of the
county, but states that this will
be done this week.
Mr. A. F. Funderburk's name
should have been inserted in
Powell Fuel Company's ad on
the last page as representative in
Chesterfield county. This was
not learned until it was too late
to make the change this week.
Rev. W. V. Terman has been
appointed to the Jefferson circuit,
M. E. church, to succeed
Rev. M. M. McLendon deceased.
Mr. Jerman is expected to till
his appointment at Five Forks
next Sunday afternoon at 3
o'clock.
The countv food administrator
of the state in a meeting at
Columbia Mondav asked the
government to ^ furnish certificates
to millers throughout the
state, so that when a man has
corn ground he may get a certificate
that will authorize a mer
chant to sell him flour.
The new legulations ot the
Food Administration prescribe
two wheatless days a week,
Monday and Wednesday; one
meatless day a week, Tuesday;
one porkless day a week, Satur

Mr. Luke Davis is the kiufi of
man that likes to do a thing even
if it is not possible to do it in the
customary way. Sunday he
wanted to go to his father's up in
Buford townsnip. The roads \
were too bad for a car or even a 1
buggy and he walked out to an s
open place and got the direction
and by the time dinner was ready
he was at his destination with a

bis shoes were not very muddy '
as he avoided the roads entirely 1
except where it was necessary
to cross one. ,
