The Pageland Journal Published Wednesday Mornings by The Journal Company C. M. Tucker, Editor Subscription Price - - $1.00 Entered as second class mail matter at the post oifice at Pageland, S. C., under Postal Act of March 3, 1879. July 12, 1916 SOMEBODY WILL BE HURT There are two dangerous places on one public road less than three miles from Pageland, and. we fear, it is only a question of time until some one will be ditched. Can you guess the places? m ROAD HAS NOT BEEN SANDED The road from Pageland to the State line has not been sanded vet, but there is some talk. This work should be done with in the next thirty days. There isn't much time to lose. ? m ? GOOD CROPS Many farmers in this section are about through cultivating their crops. Most of them have a few more days to plow, but the end is in sight. This section has not suffered for rain, and few sections of the countv have suffered because of too much rain. The crops are growing to beat the band. Old corn will soon be made. When this condition is contrasted with that of the farmers in many counties who have not thinned their cotton yet, the man who has a heart in him is made to feel thankful to Him who gave us the good crops. - YOU WILL BE TO BLAME Quite a number of would-be voters will be denied the privilege of casting the ballot on the IdQf rltocrln\* in A unmet fVin timo -Mut JL UVUUUJ ill i VU^VIOlf HIV 11I1IV/ of the Democratic primary, for the very simpHj*??ason that they are neglecting to enroll their names on the new club roll books of the party. The books have been open more than a month, but will close in less tan another month. The books are open in each voting precinct, and the names of the enrollment committee have been published more than once. The rules of the party require that each man appear in person and sign his name or make his mark. If a man neglects or fe fuses to do this he need not expect to vote. And it will not help the matter any when he gets mad and says hard things :.bout the managers of the primary and about the rules. If a man fails to comply with the rules of the election and is turned down at the polls, he is to blame, provided, of course, that he had notice of the requirements, and few men in the state h ive not had opportunity to know. f nrnll trtrlnir 4^.11 .yiiwn IVU?r> 1111:11 ICII J 1)111 neighbor.
