This is the season of picnics
and rallies.
Mr. Lem Robinson killed a
hawk Thursday which measured
4 ieet and 2 inches from tip to
tip.
T.iohtninc struck a nine near
the home of Mr. Asa Price about
6 miles southeast of Pageland
Saturday afternoon and fired the
woods. About 200 acres were
burned over.
Mr. Ervin Railings brought a
double squash to this office
Monday. It is exactly like two
squashes, but it (or they) grew
on one stem and is (or are)
united near the stem for about 2
inches.
The Journel is requested to
say that a preacher will be call
ed for next vear at a conference
at the Baptist church here next
Sunday just after preaching service,
all members of the church
are urged to present.
Win gate played the local
team here last Friday afternoon
and won by a score of 5 to 2.
This was an exceptionally good
game of amateur ball, and the
score stood 2 and 2 until the 13tb

reelected as one of the teachers
for the Pageland Graded school,

agreed to teach music again.
The other teachers have not
been elected.
An infant of Mr. and Mrs. R.
^ D. Hicks, of the Five Fork section,
died Wednesday night, and
was buried at JJnion Hill Thursj
day afternoon. The service was
