Mr. Emmett E. Goodson, the
young man who has had charge
of the Jefferson Jeffersonian foi
several months, is making a
bright and newsy sheet. He is
giving the people of Jefferson a
paper they can well afford tc
support We are pleased to see
Goodson succeeding.

Editor Ashcraft of the Monroe
Enquirer complains that melons
from the sandhills of this section
are slow in making their appearance
in Monroe, and in connection
with his complaint he pays
a high tribute to South Carolina
melons and melon growers. He
? did not say too much, however,
for botii are . worthy of praise.
We can say for this hungering
editor's consolation, if it be such,
that he may expect to bury his
face in only a very few of oui
melons this year. The crop is
very poor and, though we like
this genial writer and the other
good people of his town, we are
not disposed to go hungry al
home to feed them. We can
spare only a few this time.
An extended pleasure and
sight seeing trip was cut stiorl
Monday morning when Mr. Roy
Austin had a check for $20.0C
cashed at the bank here. He is
the 18-year old son of Mr. James
Austin, of Marsville, and he had
been gone from home about
two weeks. During this time
he had been to Asheville. several
places in Tennessee, Atlanta,
Waxhaw, etc. He came here

think Roy will take another trip
of this kind this week.
