All of the three candidates in
the race for the United States
senate with Senitor Smith are
attacking: his record as a senator
and denying that he had anything
to do with raising the
price of cotton. Mr. Smith is
vigorously upholding his record,
and the people are going to
x stand by him if we are to judge
by the reports given by the
papers and by those who have
heard the speakers.

You boys out on the farms
think you are having a dickens
of a time of it, don't you? The
days are long and hot and the
work is* heavy. You don't get
what you think you ought to
have to wear and you don't
think farming is your calling,
' any how, do you? Well you are
getting one thing the town and
city boys are not getting, and
that is the habit of work. You
are making men of yourselves
by the very work you think so
hard. In ?\ few years vou will
forge ahead of tliQ citv youth,
and then you will be able to see
how valuable the time was that
you spent in your boyhood on
the farm. Soon many of you
will bex prosperous farmers,
others will take charge of the
business in town and people will
continue to say that the great
mep come from the country.

CHURCH NOTES
Methodist Protestant
By. Jno. W. Quick, Pastor
Last Sunda^kis a great day
in the histo^Hof Rose Hill
jfchurch. We^regan to see the
precious fruitage of our toil.
Last January the members saw
the necessity of a new and better
house of worship. Plans were
laid for the building and work
began. Last Sunday morning
found the building ready for service,
and at' 9:30 o'clock many
had assembled themselves for
worship, and a thirty minutes
song service. Sunday school at
10 o'clock was called to order by
our superintendent Brother J. A.
Turner. There were 101 present
in Sunday school and 19 new
members joined. At 10:50 Sunday
school adjourned for a ten
minutes rest, after which the
congregation reassembled for
preaching service with 246 present.
We had asked God to give
us a subject for the occasion and
while the subject chosen might
not seem appropriate for the
occasion, we tried to deliver
the message God gave us, our
subject being "Sin," or sin, its
origion, purpose, power, result
and cure. This is what we purpose
to fight in our new quarters
is sin, not only in the low but in
high places. And we prav God
that no other motive will ever
come into this church, that this
may be a life saving station and
the spiritual birth place of many
precious souls. We thank those
who have given so generously
and worked so faithfully toward
the building of this church. All
denominations, and even those
who are members of no church

with good friends in this life.
And the Ladies continue to
come on through the week.
We are under renewed obliga

man}' kindnesses being shown
us this week in bringing us nice
things to eat, and offering to
assist us in any way. May God
